Frequently asked questions
Clear answers for choosing settings, handling files and saving your results.
Getting started
How do I add images?
Use Browse to select one or several files. On a desktop, you can also drop files onto the import area. Pasting works when your clipboard supplies an image file and the browser makes it available to the page.
When does processing start?
Processing starts when you add files. Choose your settings first. Changes to the controls do not reprocess results that are already displayed; add the original image again to create a new version.
Are my images uploaded?
The optimizer processes selected files locally in your browser. It does not send them to a processing service. Loading the website still sends ordinary requests to its host. Read the Privacy Policy for that distinction.
Choosing settings
What does Quality change?
Quality sets the compression preference for formats that support it. Lower values can reduce detail and file size, especially for JPEG and WebP. The effect depends on the format and source image; PNG does not behave like a lossy JPEG. Inspect fine text, edges and gradients before choosing a result.
Will Limit file size always reach my target?
No. It is a target, not a guaranteed ceiling. The source, chosen format and dimension settings can prevent a smaller result. Check the size shown in Images and, if necessary, try fewer pixels or a different format. See the compression guide.
Can I resize without stretching the image?
Choose Limit dimensions and enter a maximum dimension in pixels. The application fits the image within that limit while preserving its proportions. Keep original dimensions leaves the pixel dimensions unchanged. This is not a crop tool.
Which formats can I export?
The output choices are JPG, PNG, WebP and ICO, alongside Default. WebP export depends on browser support. Importing a format does not mean the browser can export that same format. The format reference explains the differences.
Results and browser behavior
How do batch downloads work?
Use Download on an individual result. For a batch, choose Prepare ZIP, wait for preparation to finish, then select the archive link to save it. If a file could not be included, the application reports that. Check the archive before deleting your results.
Why does my phone open an image instead of saving it?
Browsers decide how to handle downloads. If an image opens in a preview, use the browser’s share or save controls. The destination also depends on your browser and device settings. A prepared ZIP provides another way to collect several results.
Can I use MEZENCORE offline?
The optimizer can work offline after its application files have been successfully cached from a supported secure origin. Installation as an app is optional and browser-dependent. Test an offline reload before relying on it; clearing site data or browser storage can remove the cache. These informational pages are not part of the optimizer’s offline cache.
Why is an image slow or unable to process?
Large images and HEIC files may need preparation before the progress bar advances. An unreadable file is reported so the remaining batch can continue. Try a smaller batch, check that the original opens correctly, and use an up-to-date browser. Save existing results before refreshing. Browser decoding and available memory can limit what works.
Are animation and image metadata preserved?
Do not use this workflow to preserve animation or archival metadata. Animated inputs may become still images, and the compression settings do not preserve EXIF. Keep the original whenever metadata, animation or exact fidelity matters.
